HR Recruiter Tries to be Slick

I was working at an healthcare organization who was committing some serious Medicare/Insurance fraud. Once I realized the magnitude of the fraud they were committing; I wanted to get out ASAP, as they also had a habit of treating good employees like shit. I started applying around and received two offers from two separate companies. Company A was a respectable organization; I also felt a positive vibe from my potential boss. They made me a reasonable offer (which I would've accepted as this was $30K more than what I was currently getting paid at the fraudulent healthcare org) based off my qualifications and I still told them that was not satisfactory and needed to be at X amount. They told me all they could do is keep my base the same but give me a $X sign-on bonus (which I was fine with their initial offer, but didn't hurt to…

They told me all they could do is keep my base the same but give me a $X sign-on bonus (which I was fine with their initial offer, but didn't hurt to ask for more, the worst they could do is say no, and that got me an extra $X in as a sign-on bonus). Told them I needed 24-48 hours to think about it (was trying to hold them off while I was getting an offer from company B.

Company B was more closer geographically; however, I didn't feel the same vibe as company A. However, due to being closer to home, I was still willing to favor company B over A. They made me an offer of X (amount was less than company A), I told the HR rep that is below what I was expecting and I would need an offer of Y. The HR rep reached back out to me after a day and says the hiring manager has agreed to your counteroffer and they will send me the paperwork for me to sign. I receive the paperwork and the offer states an offer of X. I reached back out to HR, thinking this was an simple mistake on their part; and her response was “We never accepted offer Y; however we’ll only able to offer Z (lower than offer y). I am not sure if when you heard me the phone cut out, or what happened.” I laughed out loud and told her well “looks like the phone is about to “cut out now” due to her trying to sandbag me and to go fuck off because I didn't have time for their deceptive practices.” Hung up and sent a message to company A and told them I accepted their offer.

After about 1.5 weeks I cleared the onboarding process for company A. I had several projects I was working on for my current employers corporate headquarters that were due within the next few weeks. I went into my Outlook and OneDrive and permanently deleted all emails and saved documents I was working on. Followed by walking into my low-life pathetic boss' office (who had a habit of lying to me and repeatedly throwing me under the bus to his boss) and told him this is my last day at 3PM.
