So I work for a very large corporation, and this was a while ago. Like last year or so, but it’s funny af so wanted to share
So I transferred to a new location (my field of work is diesel mechanics, so work in a shop that does oil changes and things of that variety)
My previous shop had a few barrels for used oil filters, that would be hauled away every few weeks
This shop also has a barrel, and one day my boss texts me and says “oh and empty the oil filter barrel too please”
And I’m like “mkay where at? Thought people picked that up?”
She goes “our shop doesn’t do enough oil/fuel filter changes to profit enough to be able to pay for those disposal services, so we just throw them in the trash compactor”
I reply “lmao oh, pretty sure that’s illegal as fuck”
She goes “yeah i said the same thing but my boss insisted”
So instead of emptying that into the compactor, I made an anonymous tip to the EPA at the end of my shift. Then my weekend began
I come back from my days off and suddenly we have a fancy new multi barrel disposal system/pick up service, and a hefty fine from the EPA.
I’m just like “damn that’s wild, I wonder who told the EPA”
Then few days after that I got written up for speeding, the write up was literally
“You were speeding at this day (2 months ago). Safety is of utmost importance”.
Not what speed, where, for how long, nothing, just that I was speeding. And I’ll bet money I wasn’t speeding, because they won’t show me the video nor speed tracker for alleged speeding violation. so I responded with a detailed appeal that was disregarded obviously because the write up was solely out of spite due to me snitching on them to the EPA
No regerts
Still work at the company, all of my managers were replaced shortly after this fiasco and in a much better working environment now with the morons fired/or re-located
If your work be on that bullshit doing anything wildly illegal, don’t even threaten them, just make an anonymous report immediately and watch it go down and act just as surprised as your boss does when it’s going down. It’s a bloody good time
