Asked to work 6 days unexpectedly.

TLDR: Manager told me to work 6 days this week so I called his boss and he yelled at me, but graciously gave me a day off. The long version: I came into work this morning and my coworkers were trying to figure out who was supposed to fill in for the Saturday guy's shift because he requested off. They told me it was me, which I didn't know about, but that's fine I don't have a problem working a Saturday. The Saturday guy said “You probably should have been off today so you should pick another day to have off” so I decided since Wednesday is usually slower I'll take that day off. I went into our manager's office and said “Hey they just told me I'm working this Saturday. What day should I take off?” to which he responded “Actually, unfortunately you don't get a day off.” I…

What day should I take off?” to which he responded “Actually, unfortunately you don't get a day off.” I got pissed and probably jumped the gun but I called his boss, who I've known for for almost 5 years at this point, and told him what was going on. He said he was on his way to our store anyways and he would talk to him. I said “I don't want it to seem like I'm going over his head, but I just don't think this is right.” He responded “No, he gave you an answer you didn't agree with, so you took it to the next level. I don't have a problem with that and he shouldn't either.” Not too long after he leaves my manager, unsurprisingly, calls me into his office. He had this email he sent us a month ago, that made no mention of not having a day off during the week, pulled up on his monitor. He goes OFF on me about not being a team player and tells me it might be different if my numbers were better. He tried to say that because we don't have to work Saturdays often that it shouldn't be a problem that I'd be working 6 days, but now that it's such an issue I can have a day off this ONE time but in the future these are the rules. He also tried to tell me everyone else understood the email and didn't have any problems with it. That's probably because they didn't interpret it to mean that you just work 6 days when you cover the Satuday. If everyone was on the same page they wouldn't have asked me what day I was taking off and been so shocked when I told them he said I don't get a day off. He also threw it in my face that our store has the most PTO used out of all the stores. That's not my problem and we get PTO to use however we need it. It's an absolute garbage way to handle a schedule. The guy that normally works Saturdays is off every Monday. I frankly don't care that he's pissed that I went over his head because if I hadn't I would be working 6 days this week. I've been looking for a new job for a while and this honestly just makes me want to leave even more. I like my coworkers and I've liked some of the other stores I've worked at for this company but every time they move me it feels like it keeps getting worse. I'm not really here expecting any advice, although I wouldn't turn it down. I just wanted to vent my frustration and the events that soured my actually pretty nice, for a change, morning. Thanks for reading if you made it this far.
