I worked at a non-profit whose mission I aligned with. I mistakenly recruited a good friend and former colleague as I thought the role would help change the world for the better. The INSANE people showed themselves about two weeks in:
– not allowed to ask more than two questions a week
– told I was “stupid” in staff meetings
– incessant gossip about the other staff and their shortcoming from the CEO
– outdated technology that was all “proprietary” and had to be adhered to, even though there were free apps that would have allowed more productivity
– backend shenanigans blocking outbound texts to prospects and more
– plotting against other staff as a way to let you know no one was safe
– insane hours, all under the guise of “professional” part of the job, no overtime

If you have even an inkling of abuse, leave. No sense wasting your life, emotions or time on this crap in life.
