I’ve been at this job for 6 months and when I interviewed they said they “really want someone to come in who make the processes their own and finds the best way to do them” so far I’ve tried but it seems like that’s a bunch of fluff and no one actually cares about improving anything and if you bring anything up they just get mad or go “well that’s the way it’s always been.” And I’ve seen this at a lot of other companies too.
A notable example is this: I work in accounting and my life is hell at month end because I have to pull 30+ statements to send to people for them to provide receipts and then their boss has to approve it and then I enter it. I usually have to have all of this done in a week, sometimes less. There are people who regularly don’t send theirs or ignore the emails until I’ve had to send 2+ follow up emails to finally get them to do it. His has happened for months and it’s always the same people. My boss was complaining about these other people this week and I said that after awhile it can seem disprectful because some of them have even had to be badgered by the VP (her boss, my grand boss lol) and they still don’t change. My boss said “oh don’t take it personally” I told my boss that obviously im not these peoples supervisors but is there a way they can be held more accountable for this because it keeps happening and it makes my job hell. These people infuriate me because they get away with so much yet I get chewed out for small mistakes.
My boss and the VP said that some of these people are so high up that the executives and CEO simply don’t care enough to make it bette, -shrug-seriously?! I’ve also tried to suggest a way I could do a certain thing differently to be more efficient and I can’t do it that way because it would confuse these people too. Why say you want someone to improve things when you really just want a sheep who burns out and won’t question anything?
