Quit After 1 Day

I recently accepted a full time position as a sales associate at a popular US based Eyewear company, and the official job description wasn’t given to me until the day I started, which was today. Apparently in addition to selling eyewear and finalizing sales, I was required to work reception when needed, maintain a PAPER filing system for doctors records that was floor to ceiling and wall to wall, teach people how to put in their contacts, and fix eyeglasses. I don’t know 99% of the insurance or medical terminology they use, much less how to input all of that into the system without any training. My trainer scolded me for not knowing how to do something, and I was cussed out by customers twice for not being able to find their info in the system. Genuinely, it was like working at McDonald’s but with eyeglasses instead of cheeseburgers. I’d probably be less stressed at McDonald’s honestly.

After spending my 1 hour lunch break crying in my car, I decided the rest of the day would be my last. I emailed my boss my resignation about an hour ago, and I have no intention of returning. My wonderful boyfriend supports my decision and completely understands, and wants me to find a job that isn’t going to require THAT amount of work for such little pay. My happiness is more important than any job.
