I work at petsmart as a salon associate.
The other day I was chatting with my coworkers about our pay, and I made more than several of them due to being hired later. They make 10-12 an hour on average and I make nearly 14. Barely anything If we're honest. They still rightfully brought it to management because we all have the same job.
My manager pulled me aside today and said that it was a fireble (fireable?) offense. I told her that was illegal, and she said it was against policy, to which I said “that's still illegal” and she said “It's coming from higher up, I'm just warning you.”
To which I said “I figured it was because you're a great manager and there's no way you'd be dumb enough to make illegal threaths.” She then smiled and waved basically and I went back about my business. Moving forward if they bring me in again, I'll ask for it in writing.
For the unaware the NLRA (1935) or National Labor Rights Act makes it illegal to fire employees for discussing wages. Then later in 2014 Obama released an act that further cemented the NLRA into law.
