Last week, the warehouse shut down for 2 days bc of the weather. I had already called off (risking a point. I'm “allowed” 6 in a year before getting fired). Since they decided to shutdown, I have no points. They did a mass text saying that if you want to use your PTO days, to call the number and let them know so supervisors can put that in. I never called bc I dont want to waste a PTO day.
Today, I check my last weeks schedule and it says they used a pto day for me… uh, what?! I'll be paid for 4 days instead of 3 but tbh, I need the pto day… PTO day for this company means you can call in, say you're using a pto day and you dont get any points. I only have 2 days and now I'm down to 1, for the entire year!
I spoke with the supervisor who said he'd “see what he can do”… but it probably wont help. I'll just be out a PTO day (I know I'm getting paid for it)
Since they used it without my request/ consent/ acknowledgement, what are the chances they'll allow me to have a “no point, no pay” in my file?
My son has a lot of doctor appts at the end of the year (usually november). In the last quarter, you're only allowed to call off once and if you do it again, you're fired. My plan for those 2 days was for save them in case my son goes to his kidney doctor (kidney disease), they say he needs surgery and we end up in the hospital. I'd use a PTO day for that, and avoid getting any points.. for those last 3 months, if I still had my 2 pto days, I could take 3 days off without major risk of getting fired, and still be there for my son. I know it's worst case scenario but going into this year, that was my intention and just knowing they can use a day like that, pisses me off. Even though I'd be getting paid for the day, I still feel like I was stolen from.
