Your Average Tenure at ANY Company should be NO MORE than 5 Years

For the vast majority of us, work is work and we go there to get paid, nothing more. If that’s you, then moving from company to company needs to happen regularly. I see post after post asking if they should move for more money. Damn straight and it should be every 3-5 years. Any longer and you are selling yourself short. I went from making $29k to $135k in 15 years. I have had 5+ different jobs in that time. My raises at each place hovered around 0-5%, mostly at 2.5%. I never got promoted so no big pay raise but I always seemed to get more work and responsibilities anyways. Everytime I went to a new company, I got a raise of 15-30% and a promotion to add to my resume. If your employer is not willing to pay you there are plenty of employers who will.
