I have a quick question. . .

Is it legal for a workplace to conduct lunch box checks at the end of the shift in the USA? For context, I mean in a construction/industrial environment that does not have products created for consumers. What is the legality of this sort of thing and could someone be fired for refusing to allow inspection (person only has food and personal stuff in lunchbox fyi). Thank you in advance.
