Antiwork

Something positive.

While I have been through all the abuse and bs that most of us share on this sub over my 21 years of working since graduating high school, I am happy to say that I am now working jobs that treat me well, and pay me as well as they can for what they are. I am by no means working a dream job, or earning what I should considering my experience plus inflation, but I feel respected and appreciated. I have been working part time for my local community league for a year now, and working in a small retail shop for almost 6 months. I am by no means working a dream job, or earning what I should considering my experience plus inflation, but I feel respected and appreciated.

I have been working part time for my local community league for a year now, and working in a small retail shop for almost 6 months. Both pay above minimum wage and actually trust my knowledge and experience. I also don’t have to negotiate hours, and get paid for EVERYTHING I do. They also THANK ME, and tell me I’m doing a good job, which I’m sure many of you know, goes a long way, and has a massive impact on morale.

I won’t be able to retire on what I make. Heck if I hold steady it will take me over 3 years just to pay off credit debt, but it’s stable. I don’t dread going to work, I don’t feel like my employment is constantly being threatened, I’m not being micro managed, I’m not begging to be paid on time. I’ll take it.
