Called in sick and felt a little guilty

So this AM after two days of extreme diarrhea and very little sleep I called in sick to work. I was not making this up, still have some diarrhea but getting better. So why do I feel guilty? Why is it so ingrained in our culture that we should be guilted into working sick, and when someone is genuinely sick, they feel forced to work? Hasn't the worlds collective experience with COVID changed peoples views? Its not even where I work, I am fortunate enough my boss is pretty reasonable, he gets it, and doesn't really press. But I have worked for allot worst places in the past. Anyways, here on reddit, enjoying my day off, even if it is spent allot of time on the toilet.
