I was fired from my #1 choice for a job today and need support

The title says it. I was let go from a job I was so happy about getting. I loved the people, the environment, and the work itself. The pay was amazing. I was pulled into a conference room and was told I was being let go completely out of the blue. I was pulled into a conference room and was told I was being let go completely out of the blue. My manager told me that he “thought I would've improved by now” and that they “just need someone else who’s faster” because I was hired during a rough time for the company. They told me that it wasn’t personal at all and that they were deeply sorry and wish they didn’t have to, and then gave me my last check and a guide on how to apply for unemployment. They weren’t harsh.

I’ve been crying for 3 hours (I know that sounds dramatic, but I have severe depression and it’s hard for me to see the silver linings of things, and I take things very hard). I’m applying for unemployment, but I have a major surgery coming up in 2 weeks that will put me out of commission for over a month. I can’t exactly start a new job and my state requires proof of job searching. Not sure how that’s gonna work as I have bills to pay.

I’m not sure how to go about this, including emotionally. I’d really appreciate some advice or encouragement. I’m a wreck.
