My husband worked for a cable company in south Texas for over a year. The entire time they would work them for 12-16 hours a day and since it was piece work only, that means he might only make 40 bucks that day. During winter things slow to the point we barely made it last year, he was working 50 hrs a week and net pay was 400 for two weeks. They threatened workers not to log drive time, which could be up to an hour and half each trip. Many of these guys are working dangerous amount of hours and then getting under 4 hours asleep before driving again early morning.
His pto came in and my husband wanted to take a week off. He had been looking for a new job and had some interviews but nothing set in stone. His boss approved the pto and my husband took his week. Sure enough he got offered a job two days before he was to return, and went ahead and told his job he wouldn't be coming back, mostly because he has a family and the money was so low.
HR then revoked his PTO. His boss was even upset about it because my husband was a hard worker regardless of the shit pay and shit hours.
When he called to ask why, the HR said they can do what they want and that if he called again they would hire a lawyer to shut him up. HR lady also called my husband a fucking idiot and hung up on him.
My question is can HR revoke already approved PTO? Should we seek a lawyer for it?
