I’m an IT tech who drives around to work on different sites. We get paid just above minimum wage, while working 12 hours a day, having only every second weekend off. On top of our salary, they pay us a car allowance, because we use our own cars. If you don’t take that and use a company vehicle, you might as well not work at all, because half your possible salary is gone. On top of this, we received a 3% increase on our salaries, which was the first increase in 4 years, despite the company showing record profits.
So, my car broke down and I have been trying to fix it for the last week, with a broken rib, and I’m nearly done, thankfully.
However, I was informed that I will be having a meeting with HR in a few hours and that I need to have my things in order, because I have not been working for the last week, despite being booked off of work by a doctor because of my injury, and the fact that I have no transport.
Screw the corporate structure. They’ll burn one day.
