Resigned from current position after just over 1 year of being with the company. A bit of background, my boss has been giving me more and more responsibility and has essentially shifted his role into me. He went on sabbatical for 2 months leaving me to run the company with little more than a few days notice. On his return I kept the additional responsibilities and have been slowly drowning in work. Having asked for a raise, I was met with shock and a promise of potentially a bonus when we have enough money to look at those sort of things.

Cue my resignation, as soon as he left for his sabbatical I started looking for a new job. Found one with a 30% pay rise, annual bonus, and more of what I was looking for given my education and background. When I told him I looked stunned and asked if there was anything he could do to make me stay. I informed him I had made up my mind and was leaving in 2 weeks. Immediately after he pretended he was getting a call and I found him 15 mins later staring at a wall in shock. Not sure what I expected but was quite amusing to watch.

Since then he has been ignoring me even after offering to do a transition plan. He’s said I must move office (I share one with him currently) to one which has no internet and the lights barely work. So it seems for the remainder of my time I’ll be unable to work and forced to chat with my colleagues, who some share my views of him. Looking forward to my new role and leaving the slum I called an office.
