I don’t know if I should quit or not. I work at Starbucks (licensed store not corporate, so no unions or benefits) and I get $16.50 an hour which is pretty good but I’m so overworked.
My coworkers don’t do anything, they usually hang out in the back and leave me and one of my coworkers to do everything. All the managers are aware of this and fine with it.
I don’t plan on going to college, and this job has the highest wage in the area without a college degree, but my hours are terrible. I get around 14-22 hours per week, but I’ve been asking for full time. They only schedule me on busy days, and I end up doing all the work.
I’ve brought this up to my bosses before, and they’ve been extremely nice about it but there’s never been any kind of change.
Should I quit? I’m scared that I won’t be able to find a job that can support me, and everybody I know is telling me to stay, but I really dread going into work every day knowing I’m going to have to do everybody else’s job. It feels like they’re taking advantage of me and only giving me the busiest shifts and not bothering to give me the rest of the hours that I need.
