Watching National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and the entire concept of a Christmas bonus (and a sizeable one too if he was gonna put in a pool) is completely foreign to me. My dad said they’re not really a thing anymore, his company doesn’t do them now.
I’ve only been in my career for 3 years, but I’ve never heard of a Christmas bonus. Hell, I don’t even get the week of Christmas off, and I’m not in retail or food service.
Was this really a thing? And when did companies start deciding to screw over their employees during the holidays?
