I was hesitant to apply to this job within my company because this company sucks. But I wanted the pay raise.. They don’t do raises and if you try and fight them about it, it goes no where.
So they created a new role. A lead position to assist with my department. I did not want to apply because I do the bare minimum as is and I’m fine with that. I’ve been wanting to switch jobs for a while but I haven’t had the opportunity. I’m just about to graduate with my BA. So it is hard for me to find a company willing to take me in with little to no experience in said places.
Anyways, back on topic. My coworker’s informed me that the other leads in other departments only got a dollar raise or 1.50$ raise…. That’s so pathetic to me. Like it’s insulting. I interviewed for it and I have one of the highest chances of getting it due to my knowledge of the department and company. I’ve been here for about 2 years. Only way I got a raise is switching departments. I’m unable to do that anymore as there’s no where else for me to go. So this is why I applied thinking it would be at least a 3-5 dollar raise.
My question is, would you accept a new job title with more responsibilities for a dollar raise. I would love to know your thoughts on this. (I already do most of these duties, but they would add more)
I believe I will turn them down if it is in-fact only a dollar raise. I just don’t see any possibility of how my department will be treated differently regarding pay raises.
