if my 0 hour contract job says to give 1 weeks notice is it legal for me to walk out on the day?

basically the title. i thought 0 hour contract jobs meant you could end work when you like and this company’s been treating me awfully so i quit before a shift started, they’ve emailed me about this and don’t seem too happy
