I have bipolar disorder and suffer from hallucinations when I’m manic. It makes it impossible for me to work then, so I’ve made it a point to have a job (bartending) where I can easily get shifts covered. Meds help a ton, but they aren’t perfect.
I make decent money, but I can’t afford to work part time and pay rent, eat, pay my expensive treatments (therapy, psychiatrist appointments, medications). The latter is what makes it so expensive for me to live. I also need to get health insurance soon…
I broke up with my bf, and for the first time, I’m going to have to afford to live alone. I have two pets and I haven’t been able to find a roommate that’s ok with that. None of my loved ones have room for me right now.
If we could all afford to live off of part time work, life would be so much easier. Especially for people with disabilities.
