My previous employer messed up my pay in November 2021 by taxing me for a state I didn’t live in. (Clerical error?)
I alerted them to the issue right away and was assured it would be corrected.
Fast forward to February 2022 and I get my W2 (mind you I have quit at this point).
The error was not resolved and my taxes were negatively impacted. The income showed up as unreported income so I was to be taxed again on that paycheck if I filed.
I reached out to the VP to have this issue corrected and they opened a case with ADP to get the W2 correction issued. However, they claimed this is entirely out of their hands since I am a previous employee and they do not handle the payroll/taxes.
ADP quoted me 12 weeks to have the issue corrected. After 10 weeks I reached out to ADP (because my roommate had the same issue and got a W2 correction issued in 4 weeks w/ADP) and they claimed it was going to take longer.
I reached out again after about 15 weeks and they claimed it was going to be another 12 weeks.
Fast forward to today and I decided to email them as I haven’t heard anything still.
Now I am not getting a response through ADP.
I am being held hostage by this in not being able to file my taxes. Is this retaliation? Any advice?
