I work at a fast food restaurant and it's one of the most popular in the city. We are constantly busy every day especially if we don't have enough people to show up for work. I like working there, but today is now my day off.
The first time my opening manager didn't show up, we waited for about 50 minutes for them. I contacted a manager, who is in a higher position than our opening, and they said they would show up if 30 minutes have passed. Exactly 30 mins passed and the opening realized they were late and said they were on their way. I asked the previous manager if my time will get fixed since I couldn't clock in for 50 mins and they said they would fix it. They didn't.
Today is the second time they didnt show up and this time I only waited 15 mins and left. I told a coworker I was leaving and that was that. Normally on average for opening shifts, there are at least 5 people to work in the morning. Today, only two (including me) employees showed up and the manager would be our third. Now that I left and the other coworker said they were gonna leave, the opening manager is the only one left there now.
The opening manager tried calling and messaging me on our work app to come back and I didn't respond. I'm not going to use up more of my time for nothing if whoever opens up doesn't show on time. If they are not here within 15 minutes, I'm gone. Im not going to act like a manager if I'm not getting paid to be one while contacting every manager I know to simply open up the restaurant to work. The opening manager has to learn a lesson from this, and I hope she shows up for work on time the next day.
