So I'm a shift manager at my job and I recently had someone ask me what I made. Seeing as it's my decision to talk about it, we did discuss it and the employee was surprised I was making the same per hour as them.
Earlier this week, my manager went on a small tangent saying that we aren't allowed to discuss pay and it may end up getting somebody fired. He claimed it was company policy and I just stared at him and shook my head. I know my rights and I expressed as much once that manager left to the employees who stayed. I simply said “You are definitely allowed to discuss your pay in the workplace if you're comfortable doing it, it's your choice.”
I hope he checked the camera and saw I said that because screw him. Glad I'm searching for a new job, I hate this place.
