I remember my dad leaving the house at 8:30 in the morning for the factory and coming back at 5:30. My mom didn't even have to work and they were able to afford a 3,000 sqft house, two cars, and annual vacations. That was the norm in my town. Now every family needs two full-time breadwinners plus doing insane overtime to afford the same lifestyle, it's insane how people have been accustomed to working themselves to death. Everyone at my workplace begs the boss for overtime and half of the people here have side gigs. And no they are not more well off, most of us live in 500 sqft apartments and take the bus. Same work btw
