How can I get out of 3 month notice period? (UK based)

Please note English isn't my native language and I apologise for any grammatical errors. Also I'm on mobile in case the formatting looks funky. The company I joined back in July seemed okay at the beginning. It's fully WFH, matched my salary expectations and the initial interview didn't raise any red flags at the time… Now I am kicking myself for not doing a deeper research. Apparently my boss is known within our industry as an unpleasant man to work for, to put it lightly. Also over time I found out that they had huge staff turnover and some recruiters straight up refuse to work with the company due to it. I'll skip over the reasons why I'm miserable here to get to the point. I have worked here for 4.5 months now and the notice period I'm required to give is 3 months. I asked for the notice period…

I asked for the notice period to be shortened to 6 weeks, which I think is reasonable taken in consideration I haven't worked here for that long and I haven't been running any projects on my own, so there wouldn't be much to hand over, if anything at all. And to be completely honest I think that my proposed 6 weeks notice was quite generous considering they had people simply walkout or quit with zero notice in the past. I now completely understand why they did it.

The boss emailed me basically saying no, and that I'm expected to work full notice since they are busy. He did say this can be reconsidered if they manage to find my replacement which I know is going to be difficult due to their reputation and this time of year, so I cannot rely on that. I need to reply to his email but I haven't yet because I just feel too frustrated to put together a coherent sentence together.

I'm so miserable here and I just can't stand the thought of having to stay here for 3 months… Is there anything I can do?
