Working During Christmas Break

Long story short, this week I was planning on taking it off (not official vacation time, just a “hey, I want this week off to do stuff”). Got told I can take it off but maybe just show up 1 day to do some stuff and that's it. No problem with that, a 1 day work week isn't so bad. Then I get told it's only a half day but full day pay, which then had me excited for the day. Half a day of work, all day pay, not a bad time during the holidays. So you can imagine what happened…I show up, only to get thrown hundreds of things, find out I'm now stuck here all day long during a week I thought I was getting off, meanwhile one of my coworkers weaseled their way out of all work this week and gets to avoid all of this,…

So you can imagine what happened…I show up, only to get thrown hundreds of things, find out I'm now stuck here all day long during a week I thought I was getting off, meanwhile one of my coworkers weaseled their way out of all work this week and gets to avoid all of this, how fair is that? And I'm basically dealing with the idiot customers who couldn't comprehend why nobody responded to a message on CHRISTMAS MORNING (we already don't work/open on Sundays, but especially not CHRISTMAS)

To be fair, it might not have been so bad…if I was actually prepared to come in for a full day like I originally expected. But when I get told the day before I'm only doing a half day, I got excited and of course come in to work with the expectation that if I rush to get everything done, I can leave sooner, maybe even have lunch at home, which couldn't be further from the truth.
