I’ll never be able to buy a house in my hometown…but yeah, “work harder, duh !”…

Hi there, Just wanted to post this here, to show how insane real estate prices are in France right now, because I'm seriously starting to wonder why we work so hard: I live in a small (although really pretty) city in the South of France called “Villeneuve Les Avignon”, near Avignon, and the housing cost has exploded the last 3 years, it's insane. Those are 160-250 sqm houses more or less. They're nice, but nothing extraordinary… Here are some of them: https://properties.lefigaro.com/announces/house-gard-languedoc+roussillon-france/50036974/ https://properties.lefigaro.com/announces/mas-gard-languedoc+roussillon-france/43730716/ https://properties.lefigaro.com/announces/mas-gard-languedoc+roussillon-france/45553496/ https://properties.lefigaro.com/announces/house-gard-languedoc+roussillon-france/45904200/ https://properties.lefigaro.com/announces/house-gard-languedoc+roussillon-france/48020700/ Now here's the twist: although our interest rates are quite ok (2%, and it was 1% a year ago), our salaries are quite low. Hi there,

Just wanted to post this here, to show how insane real estate prices are in France right now, because I'm seriously starting to wonder why we work so hard:

I live in a small (although really pretty) city in the South of France called “Villeneuve Les Avignon”, near Avignon, and the housing cost has exploded the last 3 years, it's insane.

Those are 160-250 sqm houses more or less. They're nice, but nothing extraordinary…

Here are some of them:

https://properties.lefigaro.com/announces/house-gard-languedoc+roussillon-france/48020700/

Now here's the twist: although our interest rates are quite ok (2%, and it was 1% a year ago), our salaries are quite low. Most people earn between 2000-300 euros a month (25% earn less than that) and the top 1% threshold in terms of income is more than 12 000 euros a month…

In other words, just to be able to afford the mortgage on ALL of these houses, you NEED to be around the top 1% of French citizens…AND this is not even a super expensive city like Paris, Lyon, or Bordeaux.

I see a similar trend everywhere in France, except the “non desired” villages / cities.
We're really fucked, I'm telling you.
