I’m currently in a long distance relationship (3.5 hours away) and my partner’s roommates have asked me to move in. This would be excellent for many reasons, not least of which is spending more time with my s/o.

I work for a large corporation that in the last year announced a hefty base salary for all of their employees across the board.

With these two things in mind, I applied for a job in the town where my partner lives within the company. The role is different, but this shouldn’t matter salary-wise as stated above. I received an offer letter that is a full $5 below the base pay, which I’m currently making a bit more than. I have been with this company for almost 4 years. They are paying for my bachelors degree as part of their benefits, which between that and the pay are the only reasons I am staying with the company.

I have emailed the recruiter about it and am awaiting a response. So my question here is, if they don’t meet the salary demand (they have released it publicly), then do I have any recourse aside from turning down the position?
