Originally, this was for me to get off my chest and seek advice about my sick time (unfortunately no luck with that), but it’s become a general “complain about work” throwaway.
Yesterday was Thanksgiving. First of all, all of our managers are scheduled in increments of 4 hours or less. Second of all, we had ten people call out. TEN. I’m stuck with an almost 10 hour shift, no break. I miss my family because I might not have my own family but I’m still relatively young and want to have a moment of peace with my parents. So, ten people call off, then we end up left with 9 employees at most for the entire day, and by the time I got out, we had four people left. Me, another service coworker, a manager, and a single cook. We only had a cook that long because she agreed to stay. People were rude to us all day for taking so long, and I get it, it can be frustrating, but we have families too and we want to see them.
Idk, just wanted to get it off my chest! Work sucks, hopefully quitting soon!
