I've been thinking of this all Thanksgiving break. We had our department reviews all on one day, the day before Thanksgiving.
Probably because nobody has had a formal one in two years and a new HR director joined the company and requested them be taken care of.
Mine for starters: I really wasn't looking forward to mine as I don't see it necessary. I asked 9 months ago for a raised and was told it's “On the radar”. It was the final nail as I had been planning on my departure for some months prior.
I actually have everything in line for my departure in 90 days. Entity, business location, website, Google listing, accounting, vendors, customer lists the works.
Well for the good stuff, I was told I have the highest efficiency of any of my peers, the best reliability so on and so forth. Whatever, any rate increase would only be for 6 pay periods so it wouldn't be an issue whatever it was.
Was I wrong! Once the review was over and if I had any questions was asked, I said yes. Very bluntly asked what my reward for may hard work was?
Nothing! I was told I was the highest paid person in my department, only by $2 per hour. But I was probably getting income from another source per month. Like a second job, my wife's income whatever!
Found out every other person in the department received a $1 an hour raise. Every single one!
Even with the raises the sediment was not positive. The same manager that told me I wasn't getting a raise also used a racial slur during another interview.
So this is where I'm torn. These people are going to be driving business my way in the near future as my business is direct competition. Should i contact this new HR Director and let them know what a disaster was created or let this branch crumble?
There are circumstances that I am considering otherwise the crumble is the obvious route.
Sorry wrote on Mobile in a hurry.
