He's only 24, there's absolutely no help out there for grieving parents. We're in Canada, each province has a different set of rules for bereavement leave. Most are unpaid; if it is paid its only up to 2 days. Maximum amount of time off I've seen is 7 days unpaid, only there to “secure your job”. Where I am its 3 days unpaid leave. How are you supposed to deal with one of the most traumatic horrific situations that could happen to a young couple, plan a funeral and go back to work? All in less then a weeks time. It's beyond fucked up. He works on the rigs, having someone out of their mind grieving could be a life and death situation on that job not to mention many others.
We're all just fucking cogs in the machine.
