My boss made me drive 40 minutes in a snowstorm to come get the mail

I work for a small marketing firm that is really dysfunctional. I’m in a frigid climate and my boss isn’t very accommodating to that, he is the company owner and lives 5 minutes away from the office so it’s easy for him. Yesterday we had a winter storm warning, the roads were really bad. I had a dentist appointment and when I left, I told him I’d like to work from home the rest of the day. He said I had to come in (I’m expected to be in person all day, 5 days a week for a job that could be done at home 95% of the time) to get the mail in case we had any checks. No consideration for time or safety whatsoever. He and other people were here at the office, they could half walked 5 feet to the mailbox to check but nope.
