I once helped build a company from 300k a year to 5 million in profits at $25 an hour for three years. I insisted on a raise after 3 years to $35 an hour. At this time I was managing the company where the owners would leave several times for weeks on lavish vacations. After 3 months of asking and not seeing it, I quit. I moved out of state and after 6 months the company closed it doors because no one was there to watch financials or manage. Later the owners apologized after everything was lost. I've repeated this for two other companies since, raising their capitol by over 300% just to be let go a year or two into the job so that they could save a few dollars an hour. Moral of the story? I hate working for companies now. IMO until we get real labor laws in place you can expect the US economy to collapse under the weight of greed. No state should have a right to fire. There should be boundaries.
