OP: Employees should be a part of an interview where the hire is going to be their supervisor

I work first at a university and now a Community College, for context. Both jobs now I have been hired before my supervisor. I was not told this in advanced (of course), nor when they’re hiring my new supervisor. I come in one day to the university just over six months in and find out that they are replacing my supervisor (who I had excellent chemistry with and we worked well together) to a brand new employee that’s starting next week. I knew that they were hiring, but I was never told that I was changing supervisors until that moment. I didn’t even know who this person was nor have I spoke to him. And it was a disaster, after multiple complaints to HR they had to transfer me to another supervisor who was an excellent match and I worked for since I started. Today, new job, a little over…

Today, new job, a little over (just five weeks Monday) a month in. I am told yet again I am transferring supervisors. Being fair: my supervisor and I didn’t mesh well, and I was hired because the higher ups like my previous interview and professionalism (I applied for a different position, this was offered afterwards), so I got the offer.

So they were hiring someone new and I was just told they were looking and found someone. My supervisor this week casually drops the bombshell she found a new job. I understood immediately that I had the new guy as my supervisor, no problem.

I found out today this was always planned and they weren’t going to tell me about this until he started, the supervisor leaving sped it up because due to lack of training (which I have been asking for since I started), I was getting extremely frustrated and the new guy had to do his own training before me.

So now I have a new supervisor, can’t remember his name, and I have no idea what his attitude or work ethic/system or even how he handles employees.

But we’re supposed to work together and run a department despite this.
