Ghosted by my employer

I’ve been a full-time W@H underwriter for over 1 year now. It is (was) a good job; no commute, easy work, ESPP, matching 401k & decent ($16.10/hr.) pay. My company has the worst computer programs (crashes, freezes, shutdowns, extensive-downtime, server failures, etc.). The programs we rely on suck; and the people in charge of managing concerns are incompetent unfortunately. We rely on a foreign, third party IT call center for our support. Upon onboarding, everyone in my position was required to sign a “Work At Home Agreement”, agreeing to sign out after 30min. of non-production time (amongst other things). Being on the clock for 40hrs/wk was nearly impossible (e.g. you have to clock in and out various times daily to appropriately adhere to the WAH agreement.). Therefore, your unpaid-personal-time was for working on device errors, and awaiting IT outreach (which often took over 48hrs) In November I had persistent crashes-…

Therefore, your unpaid-personal-time was for working on device errors, and awaiting IT outreach (which often took over 48hrs)

In November I had persistent crashes- unavoidable & unrelenting. Hardly did any actual work. Everyday I would clock in, try to work, experience program crashes, and clock out after 30min. I did stay idle (off-clock) awaiting contact from IT: it was expected 11/10.

I never got any. I followed up daily. I filed for unemployment 11/28

Supervisors became unresponsive to my issues, and any device entry became denied (whether this was standard crummy-computer issues, or from higher-ups is unknown). Occurred approx. 11/22.

I received an email and letter requesting my device and other company property be sent in 11/29.

Needless to say, we have high turn over.

Currently: They’re contesting my unemployment claims… 4-6 weeks is the estimated time of resolution, but no further information has been requested from me. I don’t quite know how the whole process works…

I am a part time nursing student, the holidays are here- I am beyond upset
