So I just got a new job, it’s great so far, but I’m nervous about not getting fully paid from my last job. I told them I was leaving 11/18 and would be giving them 2 weeks which would make my last day 12/2 and first day at the new job 12/5.
After I did that, the new company called me and asked if I could start 11/30 instead of 12/5 because they had a bunch of executives in town this week and it would be great for me to meet them and come to a company holiday party this week. I said sure and went back to my previous employer and “asked” if they wouldn’t mind me cutting my time there a couple days short and making my last day 11/29. They were disappointed but understanding, it’s really not something I wanted to do, but I felt like in the long run it was probably the right move.. the Christmas party was sick..
Before I left my previous employer, I forgot to put in my time sheet from 11/18 to 11/29. I texted my old boss on 11/30 and let her know I forgot, no response. So I just texted today 12/2 and she said I need to contact HR and asked if I needed the number, I said yes, no response.
I just want to know, am I still entitled to this money even though I left without filling the time sheet and left before the official 2 week mark? I don’t want to be pushy, but it would be nice to get paid as I don’t know if I’ll be on the first pay period at the new company and Christmas is around the corner..
For reference the old employer is a well known bank and it would be weird for them to withhold the money if it was really owed, but my old boss is definitely a little petty and I could see her making me jump through a million hoops to get this..
In the opinion of the sub, what should I do?
