Is getting fired 3 weeks before Christmas. No warning. No write ups. Nothing. Poor performance written as the reason.
Yet… on my discharge paperwork, they listed my performance review as a disciplinary notice… but gave me an $8,000 raise. The same performance review I was promised at 90 days per my contract, but was delayed to 18 months.
This year has been rough. Between learning my son has (high functioning) autism to finding out my mom is dying of liver failure… 2022 can kick rocks.
Working in an at-will state sucks. Working in America sucks.
I’m 37 and spent 13 years in my field… I’ll be 38 in April.
I refused to sign the discharge paperwork. I don’t want to be help complicit in my firing.
Only downfall is… unemployment takes a minimum of 8 weeks in my state and I’m about to hit the slow time of the year for my industry.
They’ll fight it. They always do.
I’m thankful I have family willing to help get my kids Christmas after the news this year. I just hope one day they’ll understand the culture and the crap we go thru.
