There are a lot of people who are suggesting a general strike in response to the government forcing a settlement for railroad workers. The government did this because the world has already had several major catastrophic events and a rail shutdown could cripple the United States. The rail system is how people in Kentucky get Egyptian strawberries in the winter, and how idaho potatoes are in every state in the Union. A rail shutdown means people in Alamogordo don't have food. A rail shutdown means you don't work because the supplies you need to do your job wont come in, and your boss wont need to schedule you. This is the same principle logic with a general strike.
The government's job isn't to do what you want, or do what makes you feel happy. A governments job is to prevent people from outside from hurting the governed, and to keep the governed from hurting each other. That wont be possible when 30 million people on welfare have nowhere to buy food and make a decision as to how much they're willing to do to prevent their children from crying because they're hungry.
Everyone is feeling the struggle right now. Don't make things worse because something seems like a good idea when you're emotional.
