In 2020 I was laid off a company I helped to build, as a tech sales. I brought my business unit something like $3M turn-over and in a blink of an eye they laid me off without warning for economic reasons, COVID etc, for Christmas.
I found a new job in a VC well funded company. Worked my ass off in 2021 overachieving close to 200% target. Those fuckers gave me the worst commission plan ever saying that it was close to what they usually achieve. It was such a lie. Built in a way I cannot get all my commissions. Even overachieving I really got a small amount only.
Then normally I should have had a nice overachievement trip. They said sorry this was not budgeted for you but a more experienced colleague will have it because he was promised to.
They said they would give me a promotion. They did. Now guess what ? They told me “you re getting Rank Senior X” + 4% increase. Wow.
2 months later I got my official title which was Rank X (minus the Senior) which is a shitty rank for my xp range, a disgrace.
The sales I work with made hundreds of thousands in commission on deals I helped him with and got a few hundred bucks as pocket money.
2022 was a shitshow. I am near 10% of last year. They are now pressuring me to deliver more and threatening me. I have no support whatsoever.
I learnt a new hire from this year who is just about bragging and making noise is getting all the credit for things she is not doing. She talked bad about me without even working with me and it seems my n+2 believes her.
Seriously sick of this. Its always the same. They raise money, do horrible choices, spend like hell and then decide to lay off people and go drama economy mode.
I make a good fixed salary, far from the most difficult cases but shit. If I were told I would have been treated like that I would never have went to college in tech like this.
