Boss is offering my replacement almost double my salary

I work as a secretary for an attorney, and I'm starting school in less than a month and I told her about 5 months ago to get a replacement. She is just now getting one. My mom used to work for her and comes in from time to time to help with a lot of stuff nobody in the office knows how to do. My mother requested a few dollar raise from 14 dollars an hour and my boss said she needed to find another job. Now she's offering an 18 year old freshman at least 23 dollars an hour to come in for 10hrs a week. She can be soo weird sometimes, there was a few times when she sent my mom home crying and she can snap and blame people for something that is her fault and she never apologizes. She can be soo weird sometimes, there was a few times when she sent my mom home crying and she can snap and blame people for something that is her fault and she never apologizes. She's gotten better since she made my mom cry and she found another job. Like today she brought in a donut for me. Its kinda confusing.

I told my mom this and she thinks that my boss is taking advantage of me. Idk I know I alone am responsible for staying here, putting up with her. I could of left at any time. At this point with me getting ready to start schools, I'm only staying here right now to train my new replacement and because I would feel bad leaving my boss with nobody that she couldn't operate. My mom thinks I should quit immediately. I tend to let people walk over me. I haven't complained to her about my pay and have been a little to comfortable here. I don't wanna bite the hand that fed me, but I feel pretty unmotivated and not angry but a little hurt that I'm gonna be training a girl that will do the same job as me for almost double the pay.

Does this sound like she's taking advantage of me? Or am I just being selfish? I'm thinking about quitting Friday, but I would feel really bad about it. What would you do in this situation? If you've gotten to this point thx for reading
