I have been with my company for 10 years. The past few years have gotten more and more corporate and having more requirements, including extensive travel. I lost my dog and my sister to a drug overdose this year and am unable to continue working at this pace. I also have 2 young kids, 3&6, and my husband has been staying home with them since I traveled.
I asked my manager to just let me go instead of me just letting everything go to shit and waiting to get fired. She was super nice and understanding. She let me take my time off and get my projects done. Then this week she called HR.
They want to offer me one measly paycheck, after ten years of excellent service with no complaints ever. I have volunteered time on the diversity and inclusion council.
I never liked this job but I liked the people I worked with and don’t want to screw them over. But what else can I do but blow off work and apply to jobs? They don’t have to give me anything, but I was really hoping for a break
What should I do??? If I quit I get nothing.
I cannot stay here anymore, especially after this. Fuck these corporations, I know lots of people are being laid off or let go right now too, what if I can’t find anything??
