So my workplace apparently does not allow kids but does allow dogs. It's a small office setting with a business casual vibe. It's pretty relaxed, break times are just whenever you feel like it, etc. Well I was told I am not allowed to bring my 11-year old to work (on days where I'm desperate, like around holidays when there is no school and no camp etc.). Fine, that's fair, we don't want everyone bringing their kids and turning it into a daycare, I totally get it. But why is it okay that people bring their dogs? Five different people now have brought their dogs on multiple occasions, not just to pop in but for the whole work day. One of them is a puppy. One of them accidentally got locked inside a room and started freaking out and we had to spend 2 hours trying to get the door open while the dog barked and panicked. One of them just roams the office the whole day begging for food and distracting everyone lol. If I were to bring my daughter, she would literally just play her ipad next to me the whole day. She could go down the hall and use the bathroom without assistance. She would eat a packed lunch and clean up after herself. The only person she might distract would be me, and not very much. I just don't understand the logic of not allowing a mature child but allowing dogs and puppies.
