i wanted to get this off my chest since i’m just now processing what happened and how angry it made me. when i (26f) was 18 i started working at the busiest drugstore location in my city. a lot of fuckshit happened on the daily, i was bursting into tears every few weeks after being screamed at by customers and mentally ill people, etc.
one day, i was talking to my coworker over the checkout counter, so i bent over to say something. i felt a hard smack on my butt. i turned around and this woman was looking at me, laughing while she walked off with her male friend who was also laughing. all the people in line just stared at me.
i told my manager what happened and she looked at the surveillance footage to confirm what happened. the woman that assaulted me was a regular. the woman never got banned, i still cashed her out when she came into the store, no one really did anything. i wish someone would have helped me file a police report, but i felt gaslighted by everyone’s lack of a reaction. i feel like people don’t take this kind of assault seriously but it really affected me. i just blamed myself bc i was wearing leggings and bending over.
