I have to say. Working a service job has made me increasingly anti consumer. That's a bad thing I know but it is really true. I have nothing but respect for the people that have the mental fortitude to find the ability to wake up in the morning and go to work 8-9 hours a day in a job field as soul sucking as the service industry. Have my last check coming in and after Wednesday I will have officially cut ties with my place of employment.
The fact that i had to wait until now to hear anything on a time off request I put up more than 3 weeks ago was the final nail in this job's coffin for me. I had an important trip to see my medically deteriorating father and I originally wanted to try and get these days off the proper way. But my management decided to wait until last minute to inform me that I would not be getting these days due to a black out period (fuck that noise) and when I told my manager why I needed these days. He informed me that it was a black out period and that he would need to discuss with a store director. All I know is that it will dictate if they get a two week notice. Or notice up until the 14th. Plenty of other places are hiring for far more and quite frankly I'm tired of busting my ass for a measly 10.50 (my last job paid 12…) the fact that this had waited so long and needs to be deliberated further with full context proves that my managers only give a fuck about their bottom line. Not the mental wellbeing of their workers.
Sorry if this rant isn't welcome. I just needed to get this off my chest. At least to a community that would understand.
