We are both hr workers. Admin stuff etc. I'm public and union. She is private and not Union. (Canada). My friend claims to like her work place sure. (we aren't close so I'm not sure about salary) but I ask her if she stays over time (I'm in a union and get overtime pay) she says she's salaried and doesn't. She says you just get the job done.
That's exploitative. Her argument though is that if you don't do the task quickly and someone does it faster you get fired.
I pointed out union stops this too. (At least mine does)
No hate just really don't get the mentality of liking overtime. I work 9-5. want me to work more? Pay me.
I told my mom who also works over time and she says that's life. I think we need to stop acting like “this is fine”. Its OK to push for better work environments. Don't let people push you over.
