My wife had to get an emergency hernia surgery because she was forced to work her regular job while management knew she had a hernia for a few years. They just keep going “we still need someone to lift this heavy thing, can you do it this one time?” And repeat every day for 5 years. Now she's on disability and expecting payments for it and even digging into vacation since she's about to give them the two finger notice and quit.
But anyway, she talks to her manager about having to recover for at least 4 weeks and the manager (who apparently has never had to do this) basically froze. What will they do without their (unofficial because they don't pay the wages for it but give her the responsibility anyway) assistant manager? And during the holidays? It was kind of funny when she told me about it.
But here we are, middle of the holidays, and they conveniently forgot to add her two weeks of pay. We called again and they said they would fix it but I am expecting it to happen again because the company doesn't care. Anyway that's my rant.
