So it’s that time of year where everyone is supposed to get a holiday bonus yada yada yada. I’ve gotten one every year that I’ve been at this company so I basically count it as part of my compensation.
Anyway…this years bonus has been taking forever to come. My coworkers that I’ve spoken to haven’t gotten their bonuses yet either. I’ve started to worry a little because I already put a deposit down on an in-ground pool for my house; I’m really looking forward to having that for my family come summertime. But I really need that bonus for the pool to make sense financially.
So I get home a little early today, check the mail, and finally an envelope from my employer awaits me in the mail! I open it up only to find a $100 Amazon gift card. As you can imagine, I was livid. I completely lost my shit in front of my entire family including some extended family members that are in town for the holidays. My cousin ran off shortly thereafter; I must’ve offended him. But it all feels warranted because my boss is a huge asshole who didn’t even communicate the change in bonus compensation. Time to get the ole resume cooking while I sip this eggnog.
