So, the employees of our organization received an email this morning from the new CEO stating ‘workforce updates’. The three paragraph email mentioned due to the undermining efforts of a previously fired employee of a department who sabotaged many of our clients paid Ad campaigns and budgets as well as ongoing financial issues within the organization were two main factors in this ‘difficult decision’. They are ‘restructuring’ the company.
The email said today (Thursday the 15th) will be the last day for the staff and they scheduled individual one on one meetings with everyone let go. I feel like shit and was not expecting this at all. I recently received a promotion with a new role and responsibilities and they had me work on building a new department for the company. All this work, time, and empty promises is a hit to my ego and pride. How shitty is it to fire your staff during the holiday season with zero forewarning?! I’m grateful I’m not traveling this holiday season and I have no gifts to be given, but if I were going home for the holidays, like many people are with their kids, I would be incredibly financially fucked and stressed. Hell, I already am fucked and stressed. Of course most companies aren’t hiring new employees until after the holidays anyway, so now I’m left jobless for the next few weeks.
