Should I Tell Them They Were Unprofessional?

I started interviewing for a new company back in mid October. Their process moved slow and I had multiple interviews with them. After my last interview I was told I would hear back within two weeks. Well one week the controller was out so they couldn’t meet to discuss. I understand that. The following week was a short week with Thanksgiving. I let that slide. After a third week I started sending very polite check up messages inquiring about my status for the position. “Good morning, so and so, I hope your holiday/weekend/ went well. I wanted to touch base and see where your team is in considering candidates for the position. I’m optimistic in hearing back from you and look forward to your response.” For three weeks… they went ignored by the controller and the president who interviewed me. “Good morning, so and so,

I hope your holiday/weekend/ went well. I wanted to touch base and see where your team is in considering candidates for the position. I’m optimistic in hearing back from you and look forward to your response.”

For three weeks… they went ignored by the controller and the president who interviewed me. I left a message at the front desk for him asking the same question. Finally heard back this morning and they answered with attitude. Putting me down and saying I am no longer under consideration for the role.

I knew that after a few weeks, but I wanted them to say it. These companies bitch and moan for workers and even if you’re not their candidate of choice, they should have the courtesy to tell you so instead of ghosting you!

I thought I’d email them back to say I knew what their decision was but expected a courtesy call for every professional courtesy I extended them during the entire process. My friend said that was petty but I’m frustrated and I don’t want these kinds of managers to think it’s an acceptable practice. I took time to prepare, to know you and the company, to scout the location, take time off, write a cover letter, and provide thank you and follow up emails afterwards. I deserve a clear answer. It’s a courtesy.
